Marketecture takes home awards ‘Chip’ for Mr. Sheen campaign
November 9th 2011
B2b agency, Marketecture, scooped a prestigious ‘Chip’ at The Chip Shop Awards held in London’s Brick Lane. Nominated for their ‘Mr. Sheen’ campaign, the agency went head to head with five other finalists, before being awarded the ‘Chip’ for ‘Best consumer ad or campaign’.
Jon Hallowell, Group Creative Director, said: “We’re thrilled to have picked up a chip; this award entry allowed the whole team to showcase their creative talents – without the normal restrictions we can come up against on client briefs. The awards are judged purely on the creative merit of each idea, which makes them a great barometer of raw talent, which is fundamental to the continued growth of the industry.”
He continued: “Our entry stemmed from Charlie Sheen and his off-screen antics. It just so happens that his name, his ‘habits’ and the product created a perfect creative storm of an idea. Despite being a b2b agency, we chose to step out of our comfort zone and push ourselves within the consumer category. So it felt like a bit of a coup for a B2B agency to beat some well-regarded and great consumer agencies at their own game”.

The Chip Shop Awards were established in the 1980s to recognise the ‘unedited’ creative talent of individuals working within the agency world. The awards encourage entries and idea which don’t necessarily fall within the normal rules of a brief in the real world; the only brief for entry being that an idea is ‘brilliant’.
