We like 'serious' people and we like 'fun' people, preferably the two combined. A genuine passion for marketing is something else that tops our list when it comes to new team recruits.
That's why our recruitment process is fairly unique. We're not into intimidation tactics - we just like to get an instinctive feel for what makes you tick and what you're all about. Sometimes this involves an initial chat over a cuppa, or we may ask you to come and energise us about a b2b subject you're passionate about. We also like all our successful interviewees to meet the team to get a feel for us and how we work.
Once things get more serious, we like to pump up the pressure and test you to make sure you really know your stuff. We don't suffer fools and we can spot fake passion and 'stop-gappers' a mile off so only the serious fun folk need apply.
We have a number of tests to see what you're all about. This is the underwriting if you like, before we let you loose on our precious clients. This may involve a challenging test to take a closer look at your grammar, creativity or communication skills. It may involve a psychometric test with our resident HR guru. All we need to know is, would you be able to add great things to our business and would we be able to help you build a great career. We fully understand it's a two-way street.
Once you join the team we like to keep you stimulated, honing your skills and helping you acquire new ones. After all you're an important asset to us and we want that asset to continue to appreciate.
"Anatomy class" is our 'earn as you learn' self-development scheme to help us all keep on top of our game. Each quarter you will be assigned a specific learning project in the field of b2b marketing. The aim of the project is to understand the anatomy of what makes for effective communication in that area.
It could be producing a best practice guide for clients on the latest developments in email marketing. It could be researching the latest thinking on web 3.0. It could be digging through the archives to re-ignite a few old school direct marketing principles. If your learning output hits the grade you receive a bonus. It's that simple.
Oh, and you will have a life outside of work; it's an agency not the French Foreign Legion. We are a fairly friendly bunch of folk, but agency life is driven by client deadlines so it's not for the faint hearted. But like we say, it's serious fun. So let's talk about your next move.
