Quora’ load of Q&A
January 7th 2011
Although founded in 2009 (by former Facebook execs Charlie Cheever and Adam D’Angelo), I’ve only become aware of Quora over the last few weeks.
A collection of questions and answers, created, edited and organised by users, Quora on first glance is a hybrid of Twitter and a Wiki. The hype is certainly gaining momentum - with a huge boost in user activity towards the end of last year, and a small burst by the Marketecture team today – determined not to be the last to join the party.
On first glance I can see how it might be useful. It’s not ‘fun’ like Twitter, but it does seem decidedly useful, with answers on a vast range of topics from ‘what is Quora’, to ‘how can one cook fish in the microwave’. And I can only imagine it become more useful the more people jump on the bandwagon.
I’m certainly not going to proclaim how I think it’s a waste of time (having once done the same about Twitter and now a prolific Tweep). However while you’re making your own mind up, here’s a humorous take on the new member of the social media family. www.cwora.com
