A Brand new day…
September 17th 2010
They say that on average we are exposed to 3000 advertising messages per day, that's 187.5 adverts per hour (based on being asleep for eight hours), it makes you wonder how any of us have anytime to do anything else. Exposure, however, is different to interaction and engagement and as all good B2B marketeers know it is only once you engage with your market do you stand a chance of creating any sort of meaningful relationship that can then lead to the ultimate goal of sales and advocacy.
As a little experiment, I decided map out my own personal Brand journey and see how many I truly engage with between getting up in the morning and arriving at the office. The graphic below tells the story of an average morning between the hours of 7.30 and around 9.15, events did I can assure you occur in realtime. In those two hours I actively engaged with about 1.25% of the total amount of brands I can look forward to meeting during the day.
Have a go yourself, it's quite illuminating to see just which brands you do have a relationship with and which ones simply pass by like ships in the night.
